  1. Current students from Mizoram University and its Affiliated Colleges, pursuing Sem II/Sem III/ Sem IV.
  2. This course is also available for any Past Student/Alumni of Mizoram University and its Affiliated Colleges. They may apply for admissions with the below documentary proof

Learning Outcomes:


After the completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Gain an understanding of the tourism industry, comprehend the role and responsibilities of a tour guide, and learn various types of tours and guiding techniques.
  2. Acquire skills in itinerary planning and logistics, conducting walking and vehicle-based tours, and managing group dynamics effectively.
  3. Develop effective communication and interpretation skills suitable for diverse tourist groups, including storytelling, cultural sensitivity, and inclusiveness.
  4. Understand and implement safety guidelines for tour guiding, respond to emergencies with first aid knowledge, and manage risks in tourism settings.

Unit 1: Introduction to Tour Guiding Overview of the Tourism Industry, Role and Responsibilities of a Tour Guide, Types of Tours, Guiding Techniques.

Unit 2: Planning and Conducting Tours Itinerary Planning and Logistics, Conducting Walking and Vehicle-based Tours, Managing Group Dynamics.

Unit 3: Communication and Interpretation Skills Effective Communication with Diverse Tourist Groups, Interpretation Techniques and Storytelling, Cultural Sensitivity, Inclusiveness.

Unit 4: Safety and Emergency Procedures Safety Guidelines for Tour Guiding, Emergency Response and First Aid, Risk Management in Tourism.

Unit 5: Cultural and Environmental Awareness Understanding Cultural Heritage and History, Environmental Conservation, Sustainable Tourism, Engaging with Local Communities.
