  1. Current students from Mizoram University and its Affiliated Colleges, pursuing Sem II/Sem III/ Sem IV.
  2. This course is also available for any Past Student/Alumni of Mizoram University and its Affiliated Colleges. They may apply for admissions with the below documentary proof

Learning Outcomes:


After the completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Understand the role of a secretary including the required skills and qualities, and adapt to the evolving role in the digital age.
  2. Manage office administration tasks effectively, including handling office resources and supplies, document management, and organizing meetings and events.
  3. Master the principles of effective business communication, including business correspondence, report writing, presentation skills, and public speaking.
  4. Utilize technology in secretarial practice, including proficiency in office software, email, online communication tools, and digital file management.
  5. Recognize legal and ethical issues in secretarial work, understand basic legal terminology and procedures, and maintain confidentiality and data protection.

Unit 1: Role of a Secretary Introduction to Secretarial Practice, Skills and Qualities of an Effective Secretary, The Evolving Role in the Digital Age.

Unit 2: Office Administration and Management Managing Office Resources and Supplies, Document Management and Filing Systems, Planning and Organizing Meetings and Events.

Unit 3: Business Communication Principles of Effective Communication, Business Correspondence and Report Writing, Presentation Skills and Public Speaking.

Unit 4: Technology in Secretarial Practice Overview of Office Software: Word Processors, Spreadsheets, Databases, Using Email and Online Communication Tools, Managing Digital Files and Information.

Unit 5: Legal and Ethical Issues in Secretarial Practice Understanding Basic Legal Terminology and Procedures, Ethical Considerations in Secretarial Work, Confidentiality and Data Protection.
